Creating More Space in Your Small Kitchen

Your small kitchen has room for more storage than you might think. Without the need to expand floor space, you can make simple changes to the way your kitchen cabinets are designed. You can also make use of vertical space by installing more storage units at different heights. With a little resourcefulness and a knack for organizing, you may find more space where you thought there was none.

Accessorize Your Cabinets

One of the easiest things you can do is start accessorizing your cabinets. Use boxes or bins inside your larger cabinets to act like drawers. This will help you segregate items that would otherwise be jumbled into a huge mess all the time. Fit hanging racks behind cabinet doors for things like spice containers and other smaller grocery items.

Look For Alternatives

Cooking for a big group of people in a small kitchen can be challenging. With all the groceries, produce and dishes that you need to use, there may not be enough surface area to actually prepare the meal on.

If your kitchen lacks space for bigger countertops, you can opt to use a table instead. The great thing about adding a table and chairs to your kitchen is that they can double as additional dining space when you need it. You can also choose to use a table that you can fold up after each use.

Go Open or Doorless

If you are ready for a more drastic change, swap your traditional cabinets out for doorless ones or use open shelves instead. These types of storage can hold bulkier items that wouldn’t usually fit drawers or cabinets with doors.
